WHAT IS COACHING?
COACHING FROM BLISS' PERSPECTIVE
You may have heard of Executive Coaching, which many top companies today offer to their high-level leaders and which they view as a crucial investment in their greatest asset—people. Surveys* of such executives report on the positive effect of coaching not only on people’s professional lives, but on their personal lives as well. But why should such support be available only to high-level leadership? It shouldn’t be and it isn’t, and that’s what coaching is all about.
As your coach, I help you identify a set of goals rooted in what makes you feel most fulfilled – personally and professionally. All too often, when people think about making changes in their lives, they focus on their shortcomings. What we know, however, is that people are far more likely to be able to make changes -- especially ones that last—when they focus on the VISION of what they WANT their personal or professional life to become.
With your vision and related goals as the destination, I work with you to develop a personal action plan. This action plan unfolds one step at a time, with each coaching session, so that you can repeatedly set and meet specific goals.
As I see it, the bottom line question is: What is the value of coaching? It’s your steady progress toward bringing your vision to life, with me guiding you each step of the way and celebrating your success.
WHAT WOULD BRING ME TO COACHING?
If you’re like many clients, you seek me out when you’re yearning for some type of change in your life, you have a fairly clear goal (e.g., promotion, want to change jobs/careers, become a better manager, desire more work/life balance) in mind. You’re not getting it done on your own, and you’re ready to get the support that will move you into action and results.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A COACHING SESSION?
No two coaching sessions are alike because what happens depends so heavily on what you, as the client, need or want at that time. For this reason, I always begin every coaching session by asking what you want to be coached on that day. From there, the session unfolds in any number of ways. By the end of the session you zero in on your next action steps and a plan for follow through and how you want me to hold you accountable.
WHERE DOES COACHING OCCUR?
Like the majority of coaches, I coach either over the telephone or Skype. The benefits to you: convenience. You don't spend time traveling, and you receive coaching in a setting that is comfortable for YOU. This way you can give our sessions your undivided attention, so you can get the most out of our time together. It also means greater flexibility on both sides. I've coached people early in the morning, during lunch and in the evening. You never have to worry about what you look like! Given my clients' busy lives, I realize that flexibility is a must.
HOW OFTEN DO WE MEET? HOW LONG IS EACH SESSION?
We will decide together how often to meet, and the length of each session, based on your needs and schedule.
HOW CAN I FIND OUT IF COACHING IS RIGHT FOR ME?
The best way to determine if coaching is right for you is to experience it firsthand. I offer complimentary exploratory sessions for people interested in trying coaching out. The session will last about 40 minutes. A sample coaching session gives you an excellent sense of what coaching is all about and whether coaching is right for you. Are you ready to make this great investment in you and your life?
